Traffic has been fully restored on the 30–42 km section of the Samtredia-Grigoleti highway, also known as Lot 3. The Roads Department said the section was reopened one day earlier than initially planned following intensive repair works.

Repair works began on September 22 to address localized pavement deformations identified at approaches to bridges. The defects were repaired at the contractor’s expense, according to the Roads Department.

Traffic had initially been scheduled to remain restricted from September 21 through September 25, with vehicles diverted via the alternative Samtredia-Lanchkhuti-Grigoleti route. The restrictions were lifted after the repair works were completed.

The third section of the Samtredia-Grigoleti highway fully opened to traffic on July 18, 2026, but defects emerged within two months. Chinese company Hunan Road & Bridge Construction Group carried out the project in 2022–2026 under a GEL 324.6 million state contract. An 8-km section opened in December 2025, while construction of the full section was completed in July 2026.
