Deputy Education Minister Zviad Gabisonia says students in grades II–VI of public schools will receive their school uniforms by November–December 2026, while only first graders will have uniforms at the start of the academic year.
According to Gabisonia, first graders will receive uniforms in September, with full rollout to other grades completed by the end of the year.
He noted that procurement procedures delayed the process, after the initial tender was canceled due to documentation issues with the winning bidder, prompting a repeat market survey and new tender process.
The updated procurement budget for school uniforms has increased to GEL 45.6 million, up from the previous GEL 44.9 million.
Gabisonia added that it remains unclear whether the uniforms will be produced in Georgia, as this will depend on the winning supplier.
