Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze presented the 2022 activity report to the Tbilisi City Council. In his speech, Kakha Kaladze singled out several important directions and talked about the projects implemented this year.
As he noted, among the important events was the signing agreement between Tbilisi Municipality and the German Reconstruction Credit Bank (KfW). Within the framework of the project 47 million EUR were allocated for the further development of a smart transport system for Tbilisi, including "smart traffic lights", cameras, detectors, as well as a data platform. According to the mayor, metro stations will also be renovated.
"Within the scope of the project, EUR 47 million has been allocated, which will be used for the further development of the "smart" transport system for Tbilisi, the purchase and implementation of system components ("smart traffic lights", cameras, detectors, data platform and control center).
With the support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), relevant feasibility studies for the renovation and universal accessibility of metro stations in Tbilisi are nearing completion. With the implementation of the project, the selected metro stations will be fully renovated in accordance with modern standards and will be universally accessible, including for people with disabilities, which will additionally encourage the use of public transport and sustainable mobility throughout the capital city", Kakha Kaladze noted.
