Armenian company Shtigen Group, with over 10 years of experience in the solar energy sector, is launching operations in neighboring Georgia, promising to bring the "best Armenian expertise in solar energy" to the Georgian market.
As Hayk Shekyan, the founder and director of Shtigen Group, told Armenpress, their presence in Georgia can contribute to the rapid development of the solar energy sector in the neighboring country.
"Moreover, they are approaching the Georgian market with the same level of attention as the Armenian market. Shtigen will operate as a local company in Georgia, doing everything to develop the Georgian market in line with national interests," Shekyan said.
The company is currently participating in the Georgia Energy exhibition and forum, which takes place in Georgia from July 4-5. "I believe this will be a significant impetus for market players to view the sector from different perspectives, reassess solutions, and make new decisions," said Shekyan.
Shekyan assures that the company will not limit itself to the Georgian market. Their ambitions are high, and they also find the markets of Central Asia and the Middle East interesting. However, this year the focus is on strengthening their presence in the Georgian market.
Currently, Shtigen is constructing Armenia’s largest solar power plant, Masrik-1, with a capacity of 55MW. The successful completion of the project is expected to be announced in the fall of 2024.
BMG reminds that the share of solar power plants in Armenia's total electricity generation has been increasing in recent years, reaching just over 4% in the first half of 2023. At the end of 2023, the Armenian government announced its goal to increase the capacity of solar power plants to 1500 megawatts.
