Silk Road Group will begin construction of a new data center in September, company founder Giorgi Ramishvili told BMG following the opening of the eighth season of the Tsinandali Festival.
The project is expected to be completed in around 10 months. The two-story facility will house a 2-megawatt data center, which Ramishvili described as a major project for the group.
Silknet, one of Georgia’s leading communications companies, announced plans last year to invest $30 million in the high-tech cloud services data center. It will be the country’s first AAA+ category data center, providing server services to major customers.
Ramishvili said the project is part of Silk Road Group’s strategy to develop and strengthen Silknet’s digital ecosystem, which includes fintech, Silk Bank and other digital products.
