Silk Road Group, the parent company of telecom operator Silknet, plans to build Georgia’s first AAA+ category data center with an investment of USD 30 million. The announcement was made by the group’s founder, Giorgi Ramishvili, in response to questions from BMG.

According to Ramishvili, the high-tech cloud services data center will serve the company’s largest industrial and corporate clients, supporting up to 200 major businesses. The project will be financed from funds raised through the company’s USD 400 million Eurobond issuance.

“This will be a high-quality, AAA+ data center to support Silknet’s growing digital ecosystem, including fintech, digital banking, and telecommunications. Construction is expected to take around 18 months,” Ramishvili said.

The investment will cover construction, payroll, and services from international specialists. Once operational, the data center will offer advanced cloud and cybersecurity solutions, expanding Georgia’s digital infrastructure and providing locally based data services for the first time.
