Sinomi Retail is considering Kutaisi as part of its strategic expansion plans and expects to open stores in the city in the coming years. Company Director Rezo Magalashvili said the company is currently studying the local market and economic indicators.

According to Magalashvili, Kutaisi is an active location thanks to its international airport, although visitors currently stay in the city for an average of only 1–1.5 days. He said future investment will depend largely on whether Kutaisi can develop its tourism infrastructure and encourage both residents and visitors to stay longer.

Non-residents currently account for 26% of Sinomi Retail’s customers, while the share of foreign visitors is growing at roughly twice the rate of residents. Magalashvili said this trend could bring the two groups closer in three to four years, making tourism an increasingly important factor for the company’s expansion strategy.

He also noted that Kutaisi currently lacks major retail infrastructure and large shopping centers, although several projects are expected to be developed over the next three to four years. “We are optimistic and believe Sinomi Retail will definitely open in Kutaisi in the coming years,” Magalashvili said.
