The ethnographic village “Sisatura”, located in Samegrelo, has assessed the 2025 summer tourist season as below average, reporting a 17% year-on-year financial decline, according to founder Marika Todua. Despite strong activity in June and September, July and August recorded particularly low occupancy rates.
“Such a low load was not seen even in 2023,” Todua told BM.GE, noting that changing tourist behavior played a key role. Unlike previous years when visitors booked several months in advance, most reservations in 2025 were made last minute, often just weeks or even days before arrival.
According to Todua, the number of European tourists, especially from Germany, previously the leading market, fell sharply during the first half of the season. However, an increase in visitors from Asian countries, including South Korea and Japan, helped partially offset the decline.
Despite the summer slowdown, September performed strongly, while October is proceeding with an average load. Overall, the facility’s 2025 revenues are 10% higher than in 2023, though still lower than last year’s record figures.
