Davit Songulashvili has proposed the creation of a sectoral council for walnut and almond producers, aimed at improving coordination and supporting the development of the industry. The initiative was presented during a meeting with farmers and exporters organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

According to the ministry, participants discussed key challenges facing the sector as well as its growth prospects. Officials noted that walnut and almond production is one of the fastest-growing agricultural areas in Georgia, with strong potential for both domestic supply and export expansion.

Songulashvili said the new council will facilitate regular communication with industry representatives and help identify effective mechanisms to address sector challenges and develop export-oriented production. He emphasized the importance of structured cooperation between the state and producers.

Council meetings will be held monthly under the coordination of the Deputy Minister and quarterly under the direct leadership of the Minister. The format is expected to strengthen engagement with farmers and support more targeted agricultural development policies.
