“School and educational infrastructure are a priority for us, and our goal is to provide students with a safe and fully functional learning environment,” said Infrastructure Minister Revaz Sokhadze during a meeting with school directors.
According to the ministry, the meeting was attended by 70 school directors and parents, along with Education Minister Givi Mikanadze, Regional Development Minister Kakha Guledani, and Municipal Development Fund head Giorgi Shonia. Officials provided updates on the current state of school infrastructure projects and ongoing works.
Sokhadze said delays in several school projects were caused by legal, bureaucratic, and legislative challenges. He noted that key issues have now been identified and addressed, with government decrees adopted, expert assessments completed, and necessary legislative changes implemented to move projects forward more efficiently.
He added that the government is working on completing 77 inherited infrastructure projects worth a total of 425 million GEL, including 53 school construction projects, 14 full rehabilitations, and 10 design works. Additional projects are also being implemented through the Municipal Development Fund with international co-financing, while new standardized school designs are being prepared for wider rollout in 2026.
