According to the latest report from S&P Global Ratings, Georgia is showing a strong commitment to developing its digital economy, placing information technology among the 13 key areas of the country's long-term development.
S&P Global Ratings analysts highlight the ambitious "Georgia Development Strategy: Vision 2030," which aims to transform the country into a global digital hub. As part of the national broadband development strategy, Georgia plans to achieve 99% 4G coverage of its territory by 2025.
The agency’s experts emphasize significant progress in reducing the digital divide between urban and rural areas, with the gap narrowing to just 13% by 2021.
However, the report notes that internet access remains relatively expensive, costing 2.35% of gross national income per capita, which exceeds the 2% target recommended by the International Telecommunication Union.
