Soso Berikashvili, Dean of the Caucasus University School of Economics considers that state aids demotivate people to get a job.
"The state policy should be aimed not at helping as many people as possible, but to reduce poverty in the country. Social assistance is often counterproductive, as people, especially from large families, prefer to have all members involved in the program and receive a small assistance instead of being employed. The logic is simple - if you are employed, this allowance will be removed. Therefore, I think this assistance demotivates them.
I do not say that there are many jobs and if a person wants, he/she will be definitely employed. However, something demotivates them and the state must think about it”, said Soso Berikashvili.
