State-Backed School Uniforms to Be Cheaper for Parents, Deputy Minister Says

სასკოლო ფორმა

Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Education Zviad Gabisonia says school uniforms offered by the state for students from grades 1 to 6 will be significantly more affordable than what parents typically pay at the start of the school year. However, he did not specify the exact price of the uniforms.

According to Gabisonia, the government will fully finance the uniforms for socially vulnerable families, while overall pricing will still be lower than the standard market cost for parents. The initiative is part of broader efforts to ease financial pressure on families.

The deputy minister said the design of the uniforms has already been finalized, and the ordering process is underway due to tight deadlines and the large volume of uniforms that must be produced before the new academic year.

Gabisonia added that local companies will be able to participate in the tender process, provided they meet the state’s legal requirements. The ministry is also exploring ways to involve vocational schools in the production process, aiming to create additional opportunities within the education and manufacturing sectors.
