State To Support Farmers In Financing The Expenses Necessary For Cultivation Of Annual Crops - Minister

Otar Shamugia, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, on Wednesday, said the state would continue co-financing expenses required for maintenance of annual crops by farmers.

Shamugia said the financing would be continued at a rate of annual nine percent with the upper limit of GEL 100,000.

"As in the previous year, we will allow farmers- who are cultivating annual crops to take loans for growing annual crops. We will finance an interest rate of 9% for a year. The maximum loan amount will be GEL 100,000. It is important to support our farmers in financing the expenses necessary for the maintenance/ care and cultivation of annual crops", the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, spoke with the media representatives after the government session.

He also noted “all costs” of growing crops in hazelnut orchards with an area of more than three hectares would be financed with up to GEL 3,000, adding farmers could take out loans from GEL 5,000 to GEK 300,000 for 12-month co-financing at eight percent.
