სს

A detailed study of the unique collection of alcoholic beverages preserved at the Enoteca of “Wine Factory No. 1” has officially begun, according to Georgia’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. The historic space is home to wines and spirits aged over two centuries, underscoring Georgia’s long-standing identity as the cradle of wine culture.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Agriculture Minister Davit Songulashvili attended the opening event in Tbilisi and addressed guests, highlighting the cultural and historical importance of the project. Songulashvili thanked the Prime Minister for supporting the initiative, calling the opening of the enoteca a significant milestone for Georgian wine heritage and cultural preservation.

According to the ministry, the collection includes around 20,000 bottles of both Georgian and international premium wines, some of which are linked to historical figures such as Napoleon Bonaparte and Joseph Stalin. Officials noted that the enoteca represents a key part of Georgia’s diplomatic and cultural identity, shaped by centuries of winemaking tradition.

The enoteca has been transferred to the National Wine Agency for indefinite, free use by the State Property Agency. Authorities plan to identify and authenticate the collection, with expectations that verified items could eventually be featured in major international auctions, further elevating Georgia’s profile in the global wine market.
