Summer remains the busiest season for hotels in Mestia, with particularly strong visitor activity recorded in July and August this year, according to Ana Girgvliani, founder of Ana’s Hotel.

Speaking to BMGTV’s “Women’s Narrative,” Girgvliani said interest in Mestia has changed in recent years. Visitors no longer travel to Svaneti only for hiking or specific tourist routes, with both Georgian and international guests increasingly choosing the region for nature, relaxation and family trips.

She noted that Georgian visitors now represent an important share of the hotel’s guests and that traveling to Svaneti has become a more common choice for locals than in the past. Girgvliani said she hopes improved accessibility will encourage even more Georgians to visit the region without concerns about how to reach it.

According to Girgvliani, tourist demand has also become more organized. While visitors previously faced greater difficulties finding guides and planning routes, many now arrive with pre-planned itineraries and explore destinations beyond Mestia, including Ushguli and other villages. She added that Ana’s Hotel plans to introduce additional entertainment facilities for both children and adults.
