Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani visited the management company of Athens Deepwater Port and held talks with COSCO Shipping executives. The ministry said the visit focused on the operations and development plans of one of the largest deep-sea ports in the Mediterranean.

According to Ioseliani, ports play a key role in trade and connectivity between Europe and Asia. She noted that the Georgian delegation reviewed investment projects implemented at the port since 2009 and discussed broader logistics trends shaping global trade routes.

The deputy minister said Georgia can draw direct parallels between Athens Deepwater Port and the planned Anaklia deep-sea port on the Black Sea, which is expected to become a strategic hub for Eurasian cargo flows. She emphasized that international experience is essential for properly planning Anaklia’s development.

The meeting also included discussions on modern port management practices, with Georgian officials aiming to incorporate global expertise into the country’s long-term logistics and connectivity strategy. The Georgian ambassador to Greece, Levan Beridze, also attended the meeting.
