Georgia’s Economy Minister, Mariam Kvrivishvili, announced that under a new agreement with ADP Group (owner of TAV Airports), TAV will remain the operator of Tbilisi International Airport until 2031 and will invest $150 million in expanding the facility. The project will increase the airport’s annual passenger capacity from 5 million to 10 million.
According to the minister, commercial terms between United Airports of Georgia and Tbilisi Airport have also improved: the state-owned airport company will receive three times more revenue compared to the current contract, along with an additional $25 million upfront payment.
The expansion includes enlarging the terminal and increasing aircraft parking stands from 58 to 65.
Kvrivishvili noted that cooperation with ADP Group will continue until the new international airport planned in Vaziani becomes operational. The Vaziani airport project, expected to launch in 2031, aims to handle up to 20 million passengers annually.
