The Tbilisi Transport and Urban Development Agency has developed a traffic management plan for the upper exit of the Didube metro station in preparation for upcoming reconstruction works in the area.

At a municipal government meeting, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze noted the existence of a “chaotic situation” in this location; he highlighted that the exit from the metro station, adjacent to Eristavi Street, posed safety concerns for both vehicles and pedestrians.

Kaladze announced that the Agency plans to adjust public transport routes and implement a dedicated bus lane to reduce travel time and enhance passenger comfort.

Additionally, the Agency intends to install proper pedestrian platforms. Plans also include the planting of trees and greenery in the square, aimed at “significantly improving the visual appeal of the environment.”

“These changes will increase the efficiency of the transport system and greatly enhance the overall quality of travel,” Kaladze concluded.
