By decree of the Government of Georgia, on the occasion of Victory over Fascism Day, GEL 2,000 was disbursed to World War II veterans, and GEL 1,000 to the family members of those who perished in this war.
According to Tbilisi City Hall, under the War Veterans Assistance program, the City Department of Health and Social Services transferred the allocated amount to 52 individuals registered in Tbilisi. Specifically, 26 World War II veterans received GEL 2,000 each, and 26 family members of those who died in the war received GEL 1,000 each.
Tbilisi City Hall relied on the database furnished by the State Service for Veterans Affairs and facilitated the transfer of funds directly into the beneficiaries’ personal bank accounts.
For May 9th in 2024, financial assistance was extended to a total of 70 individuals, with 37 of these being World War II veterans.
