Tbilisi City Hall has funded 220,338 requests to date under its GEL 500 medication support program, Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced at the municipal government meeting.
According to Kaladze, the program — “Medication Funding for Socially Vulnerable Pensioners” — was launched in 2022 to provide essential medicines to socially vulnerable seniors and fulfilled a key election pledge.
“The program continues this year, allowing those who need our support the most to receive a GEL 500 voucher. Beneficiaries are pension-age residents of Tbilisi registered in the Unified Social Registry, whose family rating score does not exceed 200,000. Medications are issued strictly based on a doctor’s prescription, and citizens can collect electronically prescribed drugs from their preferred pharmacy,” Kaladze said.
He added that the 2026 budget for this program, managed by the City Hall’s Health and Social Services Department, amounts to GEL 10 million.
