Tbilisi Deputy Mayor Andria Basilaia announced that Rike Park is fully depreciated and will undergo rehabilitation as part of the city’s environmental and urban development policy.
“Rike Park is being rehabilitated. It is a kind of business card for our capital. It is visited by many tourists. Now it is fully depreciated and we want to purchase the relevant project and rehabilitate it,” Basilaia said during a presentation of projects under Mayor Kakha Kaladze’s environmental protection agenda.
Basilaia also outlined a list of other major green spaces and public areas scheduled for renovation over the next four years. These include:
- First Republic Garden – project already purchased, recognized as a historic site.
- Digomi Marshes – development of a new park with sports and recreational infrastructure.
- Avchala Park, Kakhidze Square, and Arto Garden – rehabilitation planned.
- Mustaidi Garden – currently in private hands, but the municipality intends to reclaim it and carry out a full restoration.
The Deputy Mayor further highlighted ongoing work at Khudadovi Forest-Park, where main paths have already been restored, with plans for continued development, as well as the Digomi Forest-Park, where redemption and substitution procedures are in progress before rehabilitation begins.
“Rehabilitating parks and squares in the capital is very important. These projects will provide citizens with more recreational spaces and preserve important historic and natural areas of Tbilisi,” Basilaia noted.
