Tbilisi is gearing up for 2025 with an enhanced budget. The municipal government has presented a new budget proposal to the City Council, totalling GEL 2.555 billion.
In addition to its own revenue, the Tbilisi municipality is set to receive GEL 580 million in assistance from the central government.
According to Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, the city’s budget has seen a substantial increase during his tenure.
“We are striving to effectively address all challenges and issues. Next year’s budget presents us with that opportunity. The consolidated budget for Tbilisi in 2025, which includes revenues from legal entities of public law (LEPLs), non-commercial legal entities (NNLEs), transitional balances, and loans, will amount to GEL 2.555 billion —a significant increase.
For comparison, when we were elected by the people of Tbilisi in 2017, the budget for 2018 was only GEL 815 million. Today, we have vastly different figures. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the government, and the Ministry of Finance, as well as everyone who has supported and shown solidarity, because without their help, discussing next year’s projects and initiatives would be impossible,” stated Kakha Kaladze.
This budget will be allocated across various sectors, with infrastructure expenses earmarked at GEL 700 million and healthcare and social services receiving GEL 535 million.
