Tbilisi City Hall plans to begin the comprehensive renovation of buildings along Rustaveli Avenue next year, following the completion of road and underground utility works, Mayor Kakha Kaladze said.
Kaladze said road surfacing, underground communications and sidewalk improvements are expected to be completed by the end of November. He apologized to residents for the disruption, adding that the avenue would be fully upgraded once the project is finished.
Traffic has already reopened from Chovelidze Street toward Elbakidze Rise. Workers are currently adjusting utility manhole covers ahead of laying the final asphalt layer across the avenue.
Meanwhile, contractor Smart Solutions has received six additional fines totaling GEL 8,694 for delays across three sections of Rustaveli Avenue, according to City Hall.
