Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze has announced that the rehabilitation of damaged road infrastructure across the capital will begin in the near future, with most of the works scheduled during nighttime hours. He made the statement at a Tbilisi municipal government meeting, noting that adverse weather conditions and sharp temperature fluctuations after the winter season have significantly damaged road surfaces throughout the city.
According to Kaladze, several road sections now require urgent repair, and a tender has already been completed to select a company responsible for carrying out large-scale rehabilitation works. The project will cover both major highways and local neighborhood streets across Tbilisi.
The mayor explained that most of the construction work will be carried out at night in order to avoid disrupting daytime traffic flow. He said that while the process may cause some noise-related inconvenience for residents, nighttime operations are the most efficient solution, especially as multiple locations will be repaired simultaneously.
Kaladze also thanked residents for their understanding and support, adding that the infrastructure rehabilitation program will be implemented in stages and will gradually cover all damaged sections of the capital’s road network.
