The Draft State Budget 2023, introduced by Giorgi Kakauridze, the First Deputy Finance Minister provides an increase of the salaries of the teachers from GEL 15 to GEL 18 per hour.
According to Kakauridze, GEL 1,978 billion is allocated for the Education Ministry – exceeding the current index by GEL 274 million.
"GEL 1,293 billion will be consumed on general and preschool education, including the increase in the salaries for the pedagogues with 125 GEL; 87 ml GEL will be consumed on vocational education, including the increase of the salaries of the pedagogues from 15 to 18 GEL per hour; 148 ml GEL is allocated for higher education, 76 ml GEL for science and 42 ml GEL for inclusive education”, - he stated noting that the Draft will be further considered at the individual meetings with the Ministries and Committees.
The Committee approved the initial version of the Draft.
