LEPL National Agency For Mineral Resources of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development released a statement noting that on the instruction of the Prime Minister, the Agency examined the activities of the companies "Technology 2021" Ltd and "Mn North" Ltd in the village of Shkmeri, Oni Municipality, as a result of which they revealed a violation of the license by "Technology 2021" Ltd.

"On the revealed violations, an administrative violation report was drawn up, which was sent to the Oni Magistrate Court. The legislation provides for giving a reasonable period to the licensee to comply with the license conditions and imposes a fine. The court session has not been held yet.

In addition, all materials in connection with the possible illegal use of fossil was sent to the Department of Environmental Supervision for study on November 22, 2021. As of today, the activity provided by the license for "Technology 2021" Ltd has been suspended. Moreover, a mineral extraction license will no longer be issued in the village of Shkmeri, Oni Municipality,” the agency said.

Technology 2021 Ltd. was granted a manganese mining license on July 9, 2021. This license was issued by Otar Danelia, head of LEPL National Agency For Mineral Resources of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. "Technology 2021" was founded on July 5, 2021 or 4 days before obtaining a license. Giorgi Jamutashvili (66.5%) and Grigol Khijakadze (23.5%) are the owners of the company.
