Georgia’s e-commerce market continues its strong growth trajectory, supported by rising digital adoption, intense competition, and improved online platforms, according to a new Galt & Taggart study. Despite these positives, challenges remain, including long delivery times, limited regional coverage, courier shortages, and persistent concerns about product quality.

The market size increased tenfold from 2018 to 2024, reaching GEL 3.5 billion, and is projected to hit GEL 4.7 billion in 2025. In 2024, local online sales accounted for 60.9% of the market, while 39.1% came from cross-border purchases. The number of online shoppers has grown from 600,000 in 2018 to over 1 million in 2025, with more than 10,000 Georgian companies now selling online.

In the services segment, major players such as Wolt, Glovo, Bolt, Yandex, tkt.ge, and biletebi.ge dominate, while competition in online retail is even stronger. Leading domestic sellers include Veli.Store and Extra.ge, whereas Temu ranks as the top platform for international purchases, followed by Amazon, eBay, Aliexpress, Taobao, Trendyol, Zara, and Farfetch.

E-commerce accounted for 8% of total retail turnover in the first half of 2025, with cross-border shopping making up the majority (5.8%). Galt & Taggart forecasts that the market will maintain double-digit growth—averaging 20.5% annually—reaching GEL 10.7 billion by 2030. Success in this expanding landscape will depend on competitive pricing, product variety, strong user experience, and fast delivery, the report concludes.
