Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Economic Affairs Babken Tunyan, posted on his Facebook page data on the average monthly salary in Armenia for January 2024.
According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, the average salary in the country amounted to 267 thousand drams (about $670), Tunyan wrote. In the public sector, the average salary is estimated at 208 thousand drams (over $512), while in the private sector, it is 291 thousand drams (about $730).
Comparing the data with January 2023, the salary increased by 7.1%. In the public sector, the increase was 9.8%, and in the private sector - 6%.
The highest salaries are recorded in the field of information technology and communications, where the average salary reaches 865,000 drams (about $2170). The field of information technology stands out, with an average salary of 1 million 48.6 thousand drams (over $2620).
Financial and insurance activities also demonstrate high average salary indicators, amounting to 579 thousand drams (about $1450).
Earlier, BMG reported that in February 2024, both salaries and the number of registered workers in Armenia increased. This salary growth occurred against the backdrop of deflation in the country.
The number of registered workers in February reached 733 thousand people, increasing by 5% compared to the same period last year.
According to data published by the Statistical Committee, the average nominal monthly salary in February 2024 amounted to 273 thousand drams (approximately $690), which is 9.3% higher compared to the same period in the previous year.
