At the meeting on April 30, the Central Bank of Armenia decided to reduce the refinancing rate by 0.25 percentage points, setting it at 8.25%, the regulator's press service reports.
According to the press service of the Central Bank of Armenia, the Lombard repo rates were also reduced to 9.75% and the deposit rate to 6.75%.
The previous changes in the refinancing rate occurred on December 15, 2020, when it was regularly increased from 4.25% to 10.75%. According to representatives of the Central Bank, such steps were taken to control inflation.
Earlier, BMG reported that in March 2024, deflation was recorded in the country at a rate of 1.2%, indicating a decrease in prices compared to the same period last year.
Economic growth in Armenia's state budget for 2024 is planned at 7%, while inflation is targeted at 4% (±1.5%).
