The Bank of Russia plans to conduct cyber exercises with banks from EAEU countries in 2024-2025 to improve coordination, including during unauthorized cross-border transactions, according to materials from the Central Bank.

“Cyber exercises with the banks of EAEU member states are planned for 2024-2025. During these exercises, additional efforts will be made to improve coordination, particularly in the event of unauthorized cross-border transactions conducted using various payment instruments,” the statement said.

Additionally, the Central Bank reported that cyber exercises with colleagues from the national banks of BRICS countries are scheduled for 2024. In 2023, the plan and scenarios for the event were being prepared, and relevant questionnaires were sent to the participants.

The Central Bank noted that as part of bilateral cooperation with the central banks of BRICS and EAEU countries, it is studying the unique experiences of colleagues in regulation and fraud prevention. "Joint events are being held to enhance financial cyber literacy, develop approaches to reducing the number of unauthorized transactions, counter credit fraud, and combat money mules," the statement said.
