The Government of Armenia has decided to subsidize the increase in water supply tariffs by approving a subsidy to "Veolia Jur" at a meeting on March 28.
The purpose of this subsidy is to maintain the current tariffs for water supply and wastewater services. The decision is based on the resolution of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of Armenia from 2023 and envisages the approval of tariffs for 2024.
For socially vulnerable subscribers, the tariffs will remain unchanged, while for others, they will increase to 205,992 drams. The subsidy provided by the government will help offset the tariff increase and avoid the rise in the cost of drinking water in 2024.
The total amount of the subsidy for retail water supply and wastewater services will be 1.1 billion drams (over $2.7 million) for the period from December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2024.
