At the meeting of the Armenian government on March 4, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan presented a draft resolution on the State Standardization Program for the current year and a list of standardization works.
According to his statement, this decision was made to ensure the implementation of standardization work under the State Program "Standards Development Services." The program is aimed at developing the field of standardization, with a budget allocation of 14.1 billion drams (about $35 million) for its implementation.
During the current year, it is planned to develop 39 national standards, with quarterly reporting on the program's implementation provided to ensure oversight by the Ministry of Economy.
The program also aims to develop and revise national standards in accordance with international and European standards, which contributes to economic development in various sectors, including modernization of the technological base, removal of technical barriers to trade, export promotion, energy conservation, increased productivity, and efficiency in various areas.
Adopting the program also involves conducting international and interstate standardization work, managing the fund of national standards, and servicing informational activities.
