Trade is a crucial part of the relations between Iran and Armenia. The trade turnover between our two countries, compared to previous years, has almost doubled or tripled.
This was stated by the Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani, during a meeting with journalists in Yerevan on April 16th.
The ambassador highlighted the complementary nature of the economic ties between Iran and Armenia. He outlined several plans aimed at improving trade between the two countries.
"One of our plans is related to the development of communication: we aim to simplify entry procedures and improve the condition of roads in both countries. We also plan to boost trade exchange with Armenia," the ambassador noted.
Additionally, he announced the imminent opening of an Iranian trade center in Armenia, which, according to him, will further facilitate the active development of trade between the two countries.
BMG reminds that at the end of 2023, Yerevan and Tehran agreed on the elimination of road tolls for trucks. These tolls are collected at the border crossings.
According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, in 2023, Armenia's trade turnover with Iran amounted to $692.496.8 million, decreasing by 2.5% compared to 2022.
