Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili declares, that it is good when the grape volume is growing from year to year, but there is a problem with the quality of the product.
However, harvest volume is often grown at the expense of quality.
Davitashvili explained that the Ministry will start working on improving product quality from 2021.
“What I say now may not be pleasant for many farmers and producers. Our ministry will start active communication with the farmers in order to make a focus on the quality of the wine. The fact, that we have been assisting the sector has not been adequately used by everyone. Some farmers started producing low-quality raw materials. It must be stopped. I say it directly.
We will start working with farmers in January in order to separate those honest farmers who produce high-quality grapes from low-quality production," said Levan Davitashvili.
