The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) published current condition of commercial nanks loan portfolio. According to the document, the volume of loans issued by commercial banks (excluding interbank loans) in June 2023 increased by 1.60 billion GEL or by 3.50% compared to the previous month (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 2.72%) and constituted 47.33 billion GEL by the end of June 2023. The volume of loans in national currency increased by 633.62 million GEL (2.50%) and the volume of loans in foreign currency increased by 968.12 million GEL or by 4.74% in the same period (exchange rate effect excluded, increased by 3.00%).
By the end of June 2023, the total volume of national currency denominated loans to resident legal entities issued by commercial banks amounted to 7.63 billion GEL (3.70% more compared to the previous month), and foreign currency denominated loans constituted 13.17 billion GEL (5.81% more; exchange rate effect excluded volume of lending in foreign currency increased by 4.06%).
During June 2023, the volume of lending to resident household sector increased by 1.95% or 480.75 million GEL, and constituted 25.16 billion GEL by the end of June 2023.
Larization ratio for total loans constituted 54.81% by the end of June 2023 and decreased by 0.53 percentage point (exchange rate effect excluded, decreased by 0.12 percentage point), compared to the end of May 2023.
