"We stand with those working to advance Georgia's European path and remain critical of the recent elections, particularly in light of the ODIHR report," said the Dutch Foreign Minister, Kaspar Velkamp, to journalists in Brussels ahead of the Foreign Affairs Council meeting.

He expressed concern over issues related to journalists and press freedom.

"The Netherlands always supports personal sanctions against those responsible for repression. At this moment, an essential step is the suspension of visa-free travel for holders of Georgian diplomatic passports. I believe this is a significant first step. I am deeply concerned about issues related to journalists and their freedom. For this reason, the Netherlands has made additional resources available to protect journalists. We have also allocated additional resources for those arrested during crackdowns on peaceful demonstrations.

We stand with those working to advance Georgia's European path and remain critical of the recent elections, particularly in light of the ODIHR report," noted the Dutch Foreign Minister.
