The number of bovine animals decreased by 1.3% at the end of the III quarter of 2024 compared to the III quarter of 2023 and reached 848.0 thousand heads, - according to the preliminary data from the National Statistics Officce of Georgia (Geostat). Of which, the total number of dairy cows and buffaloes equaled 401.8 thousand heads, which was 5.2% less than the same indicator of the previous year.
The number of pigs equaled to 213.6 thousand heads which is 12.6% more than at the same period of the previous year.
The number of poultry decreased by 1.7% compared to the same period of the previous year and equaled 9.4 million heads.
According to the preliminary data, in the III quarter of 2024 milk production decreased by 0.2% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 171.8 million litres.
Meat production increased by 6.0 percent from the same period of the previous year and equaled 19.5 thousand tons.
In 3Q2024 egg production amounted to 153.1 million pieces which is 0.4 percent less than in the same period of the previous year.
