According to the Statistical Committee of Armenia, the total number of employees in the country reached 760,248 in June 2024, which is a 4.7% increase compared to the same period last year.
It is noted that this figure shows a slight slowdown in the growth rate compared to May, when the annual growth rate was 4.9%.
Interestingly, none of the economic sectors recorded a decrease in the number of employees compared to June 2023. The leaders in employee growth are trade, other services, and education.
A particularly impressive increase was observed in the "other services" sector, where the number of employees grew by 20.4% over the year. The construction industry also showed significant growth, with a 12.4% increase.
The financial sector and the area of administrative and support activities each saw growth of more than 8%.
It is noteworthy that the energy sector, after a long period of reductions, began to increase its personnel again, showing a growth of 0.5%.
In absolute numbers, the largest increase in jobs over the year was observed in trade (+7,639 jobs), other services (+5,259), and education (+4,639).
At the same time, some sectors showed a slight decrease in the number of jobs compared to May 2024, including agriculture (-154 jobs), mining (-145), and energy (-85).
The total number of new jobs in the Armenian economy for the period under review was 34,276.
