The Parliament discussed for the III reading and unanimously adopted with 84 votes the Draft Law on Georgian Citizenship, improving and simplifying the citizenship procedures.
Pursuant to the Draft, the stateless persons in Georgia who have resided in the country for 5 or over years will qualify, in case of meeting other requirements, to acquire Georgian citizenship.
The Agency is assigned to verify the degree of knowledge of the official language by the persons concerned, and the basics of the knowledge of the history of Georgia and the fundaments of the legislation.
