Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the importance of regulating the cryptocurrency sphere in the country during the April 25 government meeting. He emphasized the need to understand this issue and to take appropriate measures for regulation.
He questioned whether there is legislative regulation defining the essence of cryptocurrency and the rules of its operation. In this regard, he reminded that a cryptocurrency declaration system for high-ranking officials has been introduced in the country.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the issue of cryptocurrencies causes panic in government institutions, but active actions need to be initiated in this direction.
He expressed hope for the acceleration of work conducted by the government and the Central Bank on cryptocurrency regulation. Pashinyan stressed that inaction in this sphere poses a greater risk than action for its regulation.
BMG reminds that Armenia is currently in the process of developing comprehensive cryptocurrency regulation, interacting with stakeholders in the financial sector to refine the proposed legislation.
The bill aims to create a regulatory framework for cryptocurrency operations, highlighting the principle of "equal risk, equal regulation."
