In 10M2022, wine exports increased by 6.2%. According to Geostat, in January-October of this year, almost USD 201 million worth of wine was exported from Georgia.
Wine exports to Russia are significantly up. According to statistics, USD 129 million worth of wine was exported to Russia in 10 months, while this indicator was USD 106 million in the corresponding period last year. The increase was 21.6%. Also, Russia's share in total exports has increased to almost 65%. Poland follows Russia, which replaced Ukraine in wine exports. In the past years, it was Ukraine that was the second market for wine produced in Georgia. According to Geostat wine worth USD 12.3 million is exported to Poland. China takes the third place with USD 10.5 million.
Last year, wine exports reached a record level, although Russia still held a dominant position in the export of Georgian wine. According to the National Wine Agency, the share of exports to Russia was 57% in 2021, which was the lowest figure both before the embargo (when 87% was occupied by the Russian market) and taking into account the following years after the lifting of embargo.
