The Spring Session of Parliament to Open on 3 February

The Spring Session of the Parliament of Georgia of the 11th Convocation will open on 3 February.

According to the Rules of Procedure, the Spring Session of the Parliament opens on the first Tuesday of February.

As stated by the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, at today’s Bureau meeting, he will present the annual report on parliamentary activities to the legislative body during the first week of March.

At today’s meeting, the Bureau reviewed new legislative initiatives and decided to launch the consideration in the relevant committees.

Under a legislative package initiated by the Georgian Dream faction, amendments are planned to be introduced to the following laws: the Law on Grants, the Criminal Code, the Administrative Procedure Code, the Code of Administrative Offences, the Organic Law on Political Unions of Citizens, and the Law on the State Audit Office.

The Bureau designated the Legal Issues Committee as the lead committee for the legislative amendments package.

Under a bill initiated by the Government of Georgia on amendments to the Law on Remuneration in Public Institutions, a provision will be added to the legal norm regulating the maximum amount of remuneration for interns in the public service, according to which this norm will not apply to the remuneration of interns of structural subdivisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs abroad.

In addition, the bill introduces a provision stipulating that interns of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ structural subdivisions abroad will receive remuneration within the maximum amount established by a legal act issued by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Under a bill initiated by the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara on amendments to the Law on Public Service, the name of a ministry of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara will be changed. Specifically, instead of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara will be indicated.

As stated by the Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, plenary sittings of Parliament will be held next week, on 3 and 4 February.
