Washington plans to increase assistance to Armenia to over $65 million, which is 50 percent more than two years ago. This was stated by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken ahead of a trilateral meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels on April 5.

Blinken emphasized that the United States intends to continue supporting Armenia's economic and democratic stability by investing in food security, digital infrastructure, energy diversification, and expanding trade ties.

He noted that the United States aims to support a prosperous future for the Armenian people and a more peaceful South Caucasus. Blinken supported the vision of Armenia's future as a strong, independent, and peaceful state, active in the region and on the world stage.

The Secretary of State stressed the importance of supporting the Armenian people in the current situation and expressed the US intention to provide support for the integration of refugees from Karabakh into Armenian society, providing them with housing, employment, and education.

He emphasized that regional integration is a key factor in ensuring the security and prosperity of Armenia and expressed support for the government's "Crossroads of Peace" project.

BMG reported that ahead of the same meeting, the European Union announced support for Armenia in the amount of 270 million euros over the next four years. The European Union intends to invest in Armenian businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to enable them to develop and expand their presence in new markets.

The main areas of investment will be infrastructure projects, including the Black Sea electricity cable project, as well as renewable energy production.
