In April 2024, the volume of remittances into the country amounted to USD 278.5 million, which was 24.8% (USD 91.8 million) less than the similar figure of April 2023.
According to the statistics published by the National Bank, the reduction in remittances is related to a 69% decrease in transfers from the Russian Federation, which represents a decrease in the transfers of migrants from the Russian Federation. On the other hand, money transfers increased from those countries, where Georgian citizens emigrated to work from Georgia. Remittances from the US increased by 35% in April, while - by 12% from Italy, by 7% - from Greece and by 15% - from Germany.
