The WB and the EU to provide technical support to Armenia for modernizing corporate legislation

On June 14, Armenia's Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan held a meeting with a mission from the World Bank and the European Union, including the head of the World Bank's Armenia office, Carolyn Geginat, the head of cooperation for the EU delegation, Frank Hess, and other high-ranking EU representatives.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, the purpose of the visit was to present technical support to the minister for modernizing the legislative framework for joint-stock companies and the state register of legal entities, as well as the "New Business Environment and Market Improvement" program.

Gevorg Papoyan emphasized the importance of aligning the legislative framework for companies and the state register of legal entities with international standards to create a favorable environment for investment and growth. He stressed the need for effective discussions and exchanges of experience on this issue.

During the meeting, issues related to the current legislative framework for joint-stock companies, a conceptual document on legislative reform, as well as the action plan and timelines were discussed.

The minister also highlighted that the "New Business Environment" program will help unlock the full potential of the business community, stimulate innovation, develop entrepreneurship, and attract new investments.
