Georgia exported 34,898 tonnes of wine worth $102.2 million to Russia in the first eight months of 2026. According to Geostat, Georgia’s total wine exports reached 52,419 tonnes, valued at approximately $164 million, meaning Russia accounted for around 67% of export volume and value. Poland, Ukraine and China were the next-largest destinations, while exports to other markets were each worth less than $4 million.
The top export destinations by value were Russia ($102.2 million), Poland ($10.7 million), Ukraine ($7.5 million), China ($6.3 million), Kazakhstan ($5 million), Germany ($4.9 million), Belarus ($4.2 million), the United States ($3.6 million), Latvia ($3.3 million) and Türkiye ($2.3 million).
BMG obtained from Geostat a list of 10 companies that exported the largest volumes of wine to Russia during the first eight months of 2025 and 2026. The companies, presented without a ranking, are Badagoni JSC, Kotekhi-Gurjaani Wine Factory JSC, GVMT Group LLC, Alaverdi Alcoholic Beverages Company LLC, Askaneli Brothers LLC, Dugladze Wine Company LLC, Kakhetian Traditional Winemaking LLC, Kakhetian Wine Cellar LLC, Shalvino LLC and Tsinandali Old Cellar LLC.
On October 10, Russian media reported that Russia’s consumer watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, had temporarily banned products from Teliani Valley, Tbilvino, Wineman and Askaneli Brothers, citing alleged non-compliance with physicochemical indicators and safety requirements. According to the data provided by Geostat, among the listed top exporters, the reported restriction had so far affected only Askaneli Brothers.
The reported restrictions also covered Nabeghlavi mineral water, products of Georgian Beer Company and Coca-Cola manufactured in Georgia. Coca-Cola Bottlers Georgia does not export its products directly to Russia, suggesting they may reach the Russian market through wholesale traders.
