Foreign direct investment in Georgia decreased to USD 1.333 billion in 2024 due to a decrease in equity capital and reinvestment rates, - according to Geostat. As of the preliminary data, FDI decreased by 29.9% last year.
Foreign direct investment in Georgia has also been decreasing for the second year in a row.
The share of the three largest investor countries in total foreign direct investment, according to preliminary data for 2024, amounted to 58.2%. The United Kingdom is in first place with 33.6%, Malta is in second place with 13.2%, and the Netherlands is in third place with 11.4%. By sector, the largest volume of foreign direct investment - 526.5 million USD was made in the financial and insurance activities sector, which is 39.5% of the total foreign direct investment.
