The trade turnover between certain regions of Armenia and Russia has increased 2.5 times over two years thanks to the agreements reached, while the growth potential is not yet exhausted. This was reported by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, during a meeting with representatives of the Armenian diaspora in Belgorod, TASS reports.

"Agreements have been signed with more than 70 regions of the Russian Federation with our regions. This has led to the strengthening of our ties with the regions of Russia at this [interregional] level. Trade turnover between certain regions has increased 2-2.5 times over the past two years, which are significant indicators. And this is not the full potential, it is not exhausted," he said, noting that Armenia plans to establish connections with the Belgorod region in particular.

Harutyunyan clarified that Armenia and the Russian Federation have over 200 federal-level agreements in various fields, including about 30 signed in the past two years alone.

"Relations between states are determined not by some newspaper articles or individual statements, but by intergovernmental agreements. Our goal has been to strengthen our ties, especially at the interregional level. We held Armenia Days in regions such as Yaroslavl, Sverdlovsk, Krasnodar Krai, Volgograd, Irkutsk, Perm Krai, and everywhere we signed interregional agreements," he emphasized.

Earlier, BMG reported that Armenia's total foreign trade volume for the first four months of this year increased 2.4 times compared to the same period last year, reaching $13.7 billion. Russia remains the leading trading partner with Armenia. In January-April of this year, trade turnover with Russia increased by 3.1 times, amounting to $6.3 billion.

The UAE holds the second place among Armenia's foreign trade partners, with trade turnover in January-April growing nearly 7.3 times compared to the same period last year, reaching $2.85 billion. China ranks third in terms of trade volumes with Armenia, with a trade volume of $1.03 billion. Trade with China increased by 61% in the first four months of 2024.
