Direct flights between the capitals of Georgia and Turkey have resumed after a one-year break. Turkish airline AJet transported the first 150 passengers from Ankara to Tbilisi International Airport on its inaugural flight.

Flights on the Ankara-Tbilisi-Ankara route will operate four times a week—Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, using Boeing 737-800 and Airbus 320/321 aircraft.

The arrival at Tbilisi International Airport was marked by an official ceremony organized by TAV Georgia, which manages Tbilisi and Batumi airports. Among the attendees were AJet CEO Kerem Sarpi, Turkish Ambassador to Georgia Archil Kalandia, and airport and airline executives. A similar ceremony was held in Ankara before the first flight.

AJet has been flying to Tbilisi since April 2024 and increased flight frequency during the summer season, including twice-daily flights on the Istanbul-Tbilisi-Istanbul route starting August 1.

Currently, AJet serves 30 cities across 24 countries and aims to expand its fleet and international network. TAV Georgia continues to develop new routes from Tbilisi and Batumi airports, which currently host regular flights from over 70 airlines.
